With legal online sports betting coming to North Carolina, we’re here to rank the 10 best players from Duke and UNC. Both North Carolina-based schools have built incredible resumes throughout the decades, growing and developing current and former NBA superstars such as Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Vince Carter, JJ Redick, Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum and many more. So, let’s get right down to it. Here are the ten best players currently at Duke University and UNC.

You may be thinking, “Why is Seth Trimble on this list?” Well, sure, the sophomore guard doesn’t see the court much, but when he does enter the game, he shows high promise and can become a real threat for opponents as early as next season.

Trimble has shown time and time again that he can be a solid backup if needed, and even develop into a starter by next season. In 29 games, Trimble has seen 27 but left the stat sheet empty for the majority of them.

Currently, the basketball world is dominated by guards who prioritize scoring over passing and facilitating. In other words, it’s a guards’ game, no longer dominated by big men. With Trimble coming off the bench and only averaging 5.0 points and less than one assist per game, it’s a tough challenge to put him ranked on the list.

He shows signs of a player that can develop into a stronger offensive player, but that comes with more experience and court time, which he has not received yet.
